Admiralty List of Lights & Fog Signals (ALL) Vol. J: Western Side of North Atlantic Ocean (NP82), 6th Edition 2026

About Admiralty List of Lights (ALL)

The “List of Lights and Fog Signals,” meticulously crafted into 15 regional volumes (A-Q), serves as an indispensable navigational tool for mariners worldwide. This comprehensive resource is designed to enhance safety and efficiency at sea by providing detailed and accessible information on navigational aids. Each volume is structured to facilitate quick and accurate identification of lights and fog signals, crucial for collision avoidance and safe passage.

One of the key features is the inclusion of detailed descriptions of light and fog signal characteristics, complemented by equivalent foreign language translations. This thoughtful addition significantly aids bridge crews in rapidly identifying signals, especially in international waters where language barriers may exist. Beyond fixed lights, the volumes also catalogue various lit floating marks, such as pontoon lights, resilient beacons, and crucial offshore installations like Single Point Moorings (SPMs) and Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) facilities. This comprehensive coverage ensures mariners have access to information on all types of navigational aids they may encounter.

To further assist in navigational calculations, each volume incorporates tables for determining the geographical and luminous ranges of lights. These tables enable mariners to accurately assess the visibility of lights based on distance and atmospheric conditions, enhancing situational awareness. The core of each volume lies in the detailed light listings, which include essential information such as the international number, location, geographical coordinates, characteristics, intensity, elevation, range, and structural description. This meticulous level of detail ensures mariners have all the necessary data to navigate safely.

The division of the information into 15 regional volumes (A-Q) is a deliberate design choice, aimed at simplifying handling and accessibility. This regional approach allows mariners to focus on the specific areas they are navigating, reducing the need to sift through vast amounts of information. The “List of Lights and Fog Signals” stands as a vital resource, empowering mariners with the knowledge needed to navigate safely and confidently.
